Top Five Best Astronauts of the World


Astronauts are the people who travel in space and they are called explorers of the modern era. There are so many renowned names in the field of astrology and it would definitely be unfair to mention some, however, we have compiled a list of top five best astronauts of the world. Enjoy the read.


 1. Akihiko Hoshide



Akihiko Hoshide is a Japanese engineer and a renowned astronaut of Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). Born in Tokyoand brought up in New Jersey, Hoshide is the third Japanese astronaut to walk in space. After receiving Master degree in aerospace engineering completing, Akihiko joined National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA, currently known as JAXA) in 1992 and worked for the development of H-II launch vehicle for two years. Early in 1999, NASDA selected him as a Japanese astronaut candidate for International Space Station along with Naoko Yamazaki and Dr. Satoshi Furukawa. He became certified astronaut in 2001 after completing the ISS Basic Training program of Astronaut. Moreover, he is also a certified Soyuz-TMA Flight Engineer and Mission Specialists (MS). He began 2nd trip to the International Space Station (ISS) earlier this year and is due to come back next month.


2. Alan Bean



He is an ex-astronaut of NASA whose selection as astronaut was made as a part of Astronaut Group-3 in 1963. Alan Bean was the 4th man to step on the moon. He made his first flight to space in late 1969 and second in 1973. The other passion of the renowned astronaut was art and therefore he devoted all of his time and energies to painting after leaving NASA in 1981. Over the time, Alan’s artwork has evolved into a jumble of painting and sculpture. Most of his art work depicts space and other thing space-related phenomena.


3. Alan G. Poindexter



American naval officer and a renowned astronaut in NASA, Alan G. Poindexter takes third spot on the list of top five best astronauts of the world. After getting recruitment in NASA in mid-1998, Poindexter served in Astronaut Office Shuttle Operations branch as lead support astronaut atKennedy Space Center,Floridafor two years. He served as CAPCOM for several missions and was a veteran of 2 space flights. He left NASA in Dec. 2010 and died earlier this year.


4. Albert H. Crews



Albert H. Crews is a retired USAF astronaut and a retired colonel too. He was recruited as a military astronaut designee in the 2nd group of X-20 Dyna-Soar astronauts in April, 1962 and delegated as a Dyna-Soar pilot just four month later. After the cancellation of the Dyna-Soar program in 1963, Crews was selected as an astronaut in the first group for the MOL program in late, 1965. The MOL program also cancelled and Albert was transferred to NASA Flight Crew Directorate at theJohnsonSpaceCenter in 1969 and then he served as the pilot of NASA until retirement.


5. Albert Sacco



And, the last spot on our list of top five best astronauts of the world is secured by Albert Sacco. He is a US-based chemical engineer who flew as a Payload Specialist on the Space Shuttle Columbia on shuttle-mission STS-73 launched in Oct. 1995. The mission landed in Nov. 1995.
