Top Five Unheard Tourist Destinations


Tourism has turned into a full fledge industry these days. Tourists travel allover the world and visit different places. There are many tourist attractions in the world, of which some are very frequently visited by the backpackers while others fail to attract many visitors. There are also some destinations that are known to very few people. Here is a list of top five unheard tourist destinations.


1.DinosaurProvincialPark



Founded in the year 1979,DinosaurProvincialParkis a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is situated in thevalleyofRed Deer River, almost 2:30 hour four-wheel drive fromAlberta,Canadaand is one of the richest dinosaur fossil milieus in the world. Based on the reports, some 40 species of dinosaur have been discovered at the park so far. The site manages to attract almost 350,000 tourists annually.


2. Salar de Uyuni



Covering the area of more than 10, 000 sq. km, Salar de Uyuni is the largest salt flat in the world. The site sits at an elevation of 3,656 meters above the sea level and manages to attract large number of tourists and backpackers from all around the world. Since the site is off the city, so for the accommodation of the tourist many hotels have also been constructed. Because unavailability of conventional construction materials, many of the hotels are made of salt-blocks. First salt-hotel was constructed in 1995 which became a popular tourist attraction soon.


 3. Chocolate Hills



Third on the list of top five unheard tourist destinations is Chocolate Hills. It is actually an unusual geological formation inBohol Province,Philippinesand is an eminent tourist attraction ofBohol. Moreover, it is also enjoying status as one of the newSeven Wonders of the World. In addition, these cone-shaped natural structures are declaredNationalGeologicalMonumentof the country. Two of these more than 1,000 hills have been developed into resorts to accommodate the tourists.


4.Mount Mayon



Also known asMount Mayon, it is an active volcano in the Albay Province, Philippines. Down to its almost symmetric conical shape, the volcano is given the name “perfect cone.” The volcano manages to attract a large number of tourists annually since it has much to offer the visitors includingMayonVolcanoNaturalPark.


5. Roopkund



Located near the bed of two Himalayan peaks: Trisul and Nandghungti, Roopkund is a pictorial and attractive tourist destination. It is a glacial lake inIndiaand is also calledSkeletonLakeafter a number of human skeletons discovered from the site in the year 1942. Although the skeleton lake mostly remains covered with ice, the journey to Roopkund is always enjoyable. Two temples and another small lake is also there to enhance beauty of the site. Roopkund is last among the top five unheard tourist destinations.
