Top Five Celebs Who Were Once Homeless


Whenever we hear the word’ celebrity’, our mind promptly creates an image of a rich, famed personality. But nobody can even imagine that the wealthy and renowned person was once poor enough to afford an apartment or even a single room. Following is the list of top five celebs who were once homeless.


 


1.       Charlie Chaplin


Charlie Chaplin, a renowned name in the English entertainment industry, rose to fame with her role as The Tramp in Kid Auto Races at Venice during the year 1914 and then became the world’s most famous film star before the end of First World War.  The man who brought smile on the faces of other, himself had a very sad childhood.


Just one after getting a son together, Hannah Chaplin and Charles Chaplin separated and little Chaplin moved to London district of Kennington along with his mother and brother. Charlie’s mother managed to earn for her family for six years anyway; after that the responsibility of earning came on the pithless shoulders of Chaplin and he was sent to a workhouse at the age of just seven. He worked there until he started his career as an actor. Though, Chaplin had made people laugh by the end of his life, but he was still hurt from the inside. He often quoted that “I love to walk in the rain because no one could see me crying”.


2.       Halle Berry


Halle’s passion to become an actress goaded her to leave home since her mother was not happy with her daughter’s decision to join the acting field. During an interview in 2007, Berry revealed that after leaving the home she had to live in a homeless shelter because her mother had refused paying her anymore and had given her two options, either to come back or find a way herself. Halle preferred continuing effort on going back and we can see her efforts didn’t go in vain.


3.       Jim Carrey


An iconic actor, producer and writer with dual nationality (American and Canadian), Jim Carrey, is also among those actors who were homeless once.  This multi-talented person, who has managed to win hearts of many people with his acting, belonged to a very poor family. His parents were not even in a position to afford a place to live. While Carrey was also striving as an actor, he was living in a tent in the backyard of his elder, married sister Patricia Carrey along with his siblings and parents. He is occupying third slot on our list of top five celebs who were once homeless.


4.       Sylvester Stallone


Can you imagine Sylvester Stallone, a multi-talented personality of American entertainment industry, being homeless? Yes!!! It’s true. Rocky star was homeless before entering the film industry. While sharing his early life experiences with a renowned magazine, Sylvester told that he was penniless and was slept in a bus station for 22 days straight. Then he saw a casting notice for the film The Party at Kitty and Stud’s. He tried and successfully got himself casted in that movie.  So after two days of work on the set he was finally able to get himself out of the bus-station. He was paid $200 for two days.


5.       Carmen Electra


And finally, the last on our list of top five celebs who were once homeless is Carmen Electra. She is an actress-cum-model. The projects which earned her fame all around the world include Scary Movie, Date Movie, Meet the Spartans and Epic Movie etc. During an in 2009, she revealed a rare-known fact about herself that she was homeless during her 20s. She told that during her early 20s, her savings were thieved by her boyfriend and as a result she became homeless.
