1. Cocos Island Treasure, Central America
Cocos is a tiny, uninhibited island located almost 550 kilometers away from the Costa Rica’s Pacific shore. It has been in Costa Rica’s possession since 1869 and was declared National Park of Costa Rica in 1978. A vast treasure is allegedly hidden here which was buried by the defiant crew of the Mary Dear in 1821. Based on the tales, the treasure is in a cave and consists of total of eleven boatlands. Over three hundred eighty voyages had been sent to find the treasure so far, but none could accomplish the task successfully. The most distinguished hunter was August Gissler, who spent 19 years here in hunt of the hidden treasure.
2. Ramses’s Missing Treasure, Egypt
Ramses III was a prolific ruler of the 20th dynasty of ancient Egypt who ruled for almost 31 years. Collecting wealth was Ramses’ most favorite hobby and hence he had a great assortment of gold and silver. Since he was crazy about wealth, he wanted his treasures to be absolutely safe. To ensure the safety of the treasure, Ramses ordered two renowned and skilled architects of that time, Agamedes and Trophonious to build a huge stone building adjacent to his palace. So, a window-less room had been constructed and all the treasure was sealed there as per the ruler’s command. The door of the room was sealed with pharaoh’s personal seal and nobody was permitted to open the room in the absence of Ramses.
3. The Oak Island Money Pit, Canada
The Oak Island Money Pit is a small isle off Nova Scotia and is the site of the world’s longest running hunt for treasure. The hunt began in 1795, when Daniel McGinnis paddled over from the tiny Nova Scotia to hunt game on desolate Oak Island. The treasure buried in the island is believed to be protected by a series of ingenious traps.

4. Montezuma’s Treasure, Mexico

One of the legends about the hidden treasure tells that during the American-Mexican war in 1857, Mexican aristocrat Don Joaquin enchained some local Apaches to dig out the gold buried in Sierra Estrellas. But unluckily US Army went into the mountains and enslaved Apache went against the Mexicans. Consequently, the Mexicans had to hide their treasure in a canyon located near Montezuma’s head. Almost all the Mexicans were killed except the one who later went back to the mountains to find the lost treasure.

Located in Catherine’s Palace, near St. Petersburg, Amber Room was dubbed as the Eighth Wonder of the world before it lost during the World War II. It was recreated in 2003. Initially it was commissioned by Frederick of Prussia in 1707. In 1941, the German army marched into the Soviet Union, plundering everything in the Amber Room. The Room disappeared when bombardment over Germany began in 1944 by the Allied forces. Despite the efforts from treasure hunters and art collectors, the Amber Room can never be recovered.
